3D-Modeled Destroyed Environment

Project Overview

This environment was created in Blender with the intention of being used in Dream Arc's Beta Crystal Television show as a background. It was created in a stylized way to fit with the show's art style and this area was an abandoned alien planet which would fit into the exploration theme of the show. (This is what I can gather from the work-in-progress clips as the official release has not occured yet.)

Key Elements

  • 3D Modeling Environment and Props
  • Color Palette

Programs Used

  • 3D modeling
  • Adobe Photoshop - for image editing and digital asset creation
  • Textures in Blender, Clip Studio Paint EX, and Adobe Photoshop

Colors Used

  • Midtone Blue (#49bfc4) - Primary color
  • Dark Green (#33585b) - Secondary color
  • Green (#36655b) - Accent color

Approach

I created the environment by first getting some concept artwork from combining images and painting over the image in Photoshop. I then created the models in Blender and added textures that I painted in Photoshop with some minor AI assistance.

Results

This project grew my skills in environmental design and 3D modeling.

Project Overview

Scene Layout

Key Elements

  • Color Palette
  • 3D Modeling Environment and Textures

Programs Used

  • Adobe Illustrator - for logo design and vector graphics
  • Adobe Photoshop - for image editing, texture, and digital asset creation
  • Blender - for 3D Modeling

Colors Used

  • Pale Purple (#9490cf) - Primary color
  • Bright Blue (#86c5e9) - Secondary color
  • Dark Blue (#14275e) - Accent color
  • Black (#0c1328) - Complementary color

Approach

The 3D model was created for a class assignment during my senior classes at Grand View University for a mixed-media project which involved creating different styles in one environment. It uses both 2D and 3D models to create the final image which was intended to be used in a magazine or other media.

Results

This project grew my skills in 2D and 3D environment assemblage.

Environment 3D Model

Project Overview

I was tasked with creating a model for the Hope church since they were interested in creating a fly-over animation for their church's building progress.

Key Elements

  • Color Palette
  • 3D Modeling and Textures

Programs Used

  • Blender - for 3D modeling and textures
  • Polycam AI - for some textures with editing in Photoshop by me
  • Meshy AI - for some modeling for trees and texture work with some edits by me
  • Adobe Photoshop - for image editing and digital asset creation

Colors Used

  • Pale Blue (#81a0d4) - Primary color
  • Dark Blue (#184492) - Secondary color
  • Pale Green (#bfd1cc) - Accent color
  • Dark Green (#244339) - Complementary color
  • Bright Blue (#3c9c9c) - Background color

Approach

I created this model for the church by first getting several reference images of the building by taking photos from the outside and the inside. I then used Blender to mock up the building and I did some AI textures and background models. I lastly used Photoshop and other tools to draw textures and draw over the AI textures as well.

Results

The church will be able to use this model for their video presentation. (This presentation hasn't gone live yet so I don't know how people will generally respond to it.)
